Central Laboratory
Tasks
To perform routine, non-routine analyses, providing analytical data to produce and release products, enable process and product optimization, preventing potential problems, as well as implement and provide feedback on new/improved analytical systems in order to ensure analytical systems are performing optimally and at the highest standards.
Service Requests
Undertake the necessary initiatives to ensure that service requests are value adding and aligned with the business, unit and team goals
Participate in developing response plans as well as schedule non-routine analytical request and route them to the appropriate workgroup or service provider in order to ensure effective delivery of services
Troubleshooting
Contribute to adapting laboratory I/T and data handling systems to the needs of the unit and perform first-line troubleshooting, networking with other technical individuals in order to share technology and leverage problem solving and prevention expertise
Perform in-depth troubleshooting of analytical systems, plant and customer problems in order to ensure ongoing running of operations
Collect samples that involve simple procedures
Contribute developing new calibration methods, standards & perform troubleshooting of analytical systems
New/Improved Analytical Systems
Participate in evaluating and implementing new/improved analytical systems, contributing to value creation by continuous improvement of EH&S and OD/AS procedures, the analytical work processes and related tools and performance metrics in order to ensure improved methods and instrumentation to increase precision, accuracy and/or speed of analysis
Use the relevant tools in order to evaluate validity of data, apply statistics, interpret results and take appropriate action as necessary
Network with other technical people to share technology and to leverage problem solving and prevention expertise
Results Documentation
Undertake the necessary measures in order to ensure proper documentation, communication and archive of results
Analysis & Maintenance
Perform routine, non-routine analyses as necessary, perform calibration and maintenance tasks of analytical systems as agreed with maintenance function
Responsible for final product classification and release
Customer Needs
Help troubleshoot plant and customer problems including performing special release updates in the system
Training
Train peers & PRA in use of analytical systems and EH&S and OD/QS procedures to ensure technical gaps are fulfilled
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of Central Lab unit systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Contribute to value creation by continuous improvement of OD/AS procedures, the analytical work processes and related tools and performance metrics.
Provide improvement suggestions for methods and instrumentation to increase precision, accuracy and/or speed of analysis
EH&S Focus
Comply with all relevant health, safety, security and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.
Follow EH&S and operating discipline / quality system procedures and requirements.
